PATNA-------------------------Bharat Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India's first President, was not only one of the founders and President of the Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, but also an appointed 'Hindi Promoter' of the Sammelan. He promoted Hindi in many provinces of South India. His sacrifice for the nation and the national language can never be forgotten. 'Service to Hindi' was 'service to the nation' for him.

Presiding over a function organized at the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan on Tuesday, on the eve of Bharat Ratna's birth anniversary, Conference President Dr. Anil Sulabh said this. He said that after Mahatma Gandhi, Bharat Ratna was India's representative leader. There was no other person of his caliber in the 20th century. That is why we have been urging for years to celebrate his birth anniversary as 'National Merit Day'.

Remembering the multilingual scholar Dr. Mithilesh Kumari Mishra on her birth anniversary, Dr. Sulabh said that Mithilesh suffered the terrible pain of widowhood in her youth. However, she dedicated the rest of her life to the divine love of literature. She possessed a vast knowledge of Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, along with several other South Indian languages. She made an invaluable contribution to the promotion and propagation of Hindi in the South. She was a divine bridge connecting North and South India at the linguistic level.

Inaugurating the ceremony, former Governor of Sikkim, Ganga Prasad Ji, said that Rajendra Babu was a great man of extraordinary intellect. He witnessed the immense respect people had for him in Sikkim as well. Inspired by Gandhiji, Rajendra Babu dedicated his entire life to serving the nation. While serving as President, he remained connected to society. His biography should be included in textbooks. His life is exemplary.

The chief guest of the ceremony and former Union Minister, Padma Bhushan Dr. C.P. Thakur, said that Rajendra Babu's life inspires us to remain constantly active. We should always strive to improve ourselves and society. Dr. Madhu Verma, Dr. Ratneshwar Singh, Dr. Samarendra Narayan Arya, Urmila Narayan, Dr. Mukesh Kumar Ojha, Mithilesh's son Neelabh Mishra and his son-in-law Jai Kishan expressed their views.

The poetry conference organized on this occasion began with Chanda Mishra's speech. Senior poet RP Ghayal, Acharya Vijay Gunjan, Prof. Sunil Kumar Upadhyay, Siddheshwar, Kumar Anupam, Engineer Ashok Kumar, Surya Prakash Upadhyay, Dr. Sushma Kumari, Rowley Rajvi, Indu Bhushan Sahay, Raj Anand, and other poets and poetesses offered their poetic tributes. The stage was conducted by poet Brahmanand Pandey, and the vote of thanks was given by Mithilesh's foster daughter Shraddha Kumari.

Dr Chandrashekhar Azad, Sikander-e-Azam, Ramesh Singh, Nawal Kishore Singh, Ashwini Kaviraj, Abhiram, Ram Prasad Thakur, Nandan Kumar Meet and other intellectuals were present at the function.
