PATNA------------------------The dangerous face of high speed was once again revealed on the Patna-Buxar NH-922, as negligence claimed the life of an innocent young girl. Near Thakur Dayal Singh ka Tola village, within the jurisdiction of the Krishnabrahm police station, an out-of- control car violently collided with an e-rickshaw (Toto). In this tragic accident, 14-year-old Sajna Kumari died on the spot, while the other passengers narrowly escaped serious injury.
According to eyewitnesses, the e-rickshaw was proceeding in its lane at a normal speed. Suddenly, a speeding car approaching from behind lost control and slammed violently into the e-rickshaw.
The impact was so severe that the e-rickshaw was completely wrecked, and Sajna Kumari—a resident of Dumraon and daughter of Sanjay Sah, who was riding in the vehicle—breathed her last at the scene of the accident. Following the crash, chaos and cries of distress erupted at the site, and locals immediately rushed to offer assistance. According to reports, the occupants of the car—who were traveling with their family—were en route to Muzaffarpur from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speed and negligence were the primary causes of the accident. Other passengers aboard the e-rickshaw also sustained injuries, though their condition is reported to be out of danger.
Upon receiving news of the incident, local police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. The police have taken custody of the body and sent it to the Buxar Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Additionally, the crashed car has been seized, and the driver has been taken into custody. It is reported that the driver, Mukesh Kumar, serves as a Head Constable in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). This accident has once again raised questions regarding road safety and speeding. Local residents have urged the administration to increase strictness on this route and implement concrete measures for speed control, in order to prevent such incidents in the future.
