ARA-----------------------The residents of the locality, troubled and angry by the foul smell emanating from the garbage dumped at the main gate of Nagar Panchayat Bihiya and the adjacent garbage processing unit, have spread the garbage on the road, in which the vehicle of Alpha School full of children was stuck for a long time on Tuesday. The children were seen crying due to the foul smell. Last Monday, BDO Bihiya was also stuck in the same garbage along with the vehicle.

Due to garbage dumping near the garbage processing unit near the Nagar Bhawan, not only the residents of the locality but also the employees of the MNREGA office located nearby and the BDO living in her residence are troubled by the foul smell. Expressing the fear of spread of disease, dozens of people entered the Nagar Panchayat office on Tuesday also demanding removal of the garbage and submitted an application to the sanitation officer. During this, people also abused him. Giving information about this, sanitation officer Abhishek Raj mentioned his limited role.

According to the information, a garbage processing unit has been constructed near the Nagar Panchayat office situated in the middle of Bihiya town. The BDO residence and MNREGA office are located next to it. The road passing by is used by the police and officials to reach the block office. There is dense population all around.

Organic fertilizer is made by sorting the garbage in the garbage processing unit. For this, about two bags of garbage are kept at its main gate every day. Due to the garbage lying for many days, the stench emanating from it troubles the common people as well as government officials and workers. Angry about this, the people not only spread the garbage on the road on Monday but also threw some garbage at the gate of the Nagar Panchayat.

Vasant Kumar, Lalbabu etc. said that they are tired of saying but the Nagar Panchayat officials do not listen. BDO Monalisa Priyadarshini said that it is difficult to live in the house because of the stench. It has been said and written many times but the Nagar Panchayat officials do not listen. It is said that the Nagar Panchayat spends more than 24 lakh rupees per month on the cleanliness of the town. The contract of cleaning is being given to a single agency for the past many years.

Sources say that out of this, about eight lakh rupees are spent on the garbage processing unit. 10 to 12 women have been kept for sorting wet and dry garbage, while five to six people including three handicapped have been kept for supervision, most of whom have no work, they only do odd jobs and take money in the name of salary. It is claimed that organic fertilizer is made from garbage in the garbage processing unit, but what happens to it or how much income the Nagar Panchayat gets from its sale etc., only a few people know.

City Vice President Vijay Kumar Gupta says that only a few people know what happens in the Nagar Panchayat, they do not know anything. It is known that it has been about 20 years since the Nagar Panchayat came into existence, but till date a permanent arrangement for garbage dumping has not been made. At present, God is the master of the Nagar Panchayat because the Executive Officer is on leave for a long time. He is dependent on office charge. The Chairman has not been coming for many months. Nobody else is doing anything.
