MEMORIAL HONOUR GIVEN TO THREE LITERARY LUMINARIES

PATNA-------------------------Acharya Fazlur Rahman Hashmi was a great poet of Indian philosophy and national consciousness. His poetic talent was multi-dimensional and so was his personality. He was not only a scholar and capable litterateur of Maithili, Hindi and Urdu, but was also a nationalist Muslim inspired by Indian philosophy. He had deep knowledge not only of Indian philosophy and Vedic literature, but also of Pali and Sanskrit. That is why many mythological contexts have come prominently in his poetic works.

These things were said by the conference president Dr Anil Sulabh while presiding over the Smriti-cum-Samman Samaroh organized on the 14th death anniversary of Acharya Hashmi at Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, courtesy Acharya Hashmi Communal Harmony Forum, on Sunday. He said that today when communal harmony is eclipsed in the entire world, Acharya Hashmi is very relevant. It is a matter of pride that Acharya Hashmi was also honored with the Sahitya Akademi Award and he was also made a member of the Academy. He was equally respected among the scholars of Maithili, Hindi and Urdu. The 17 books written by him in all three languages are indicative of his great literary contribution.

While inaugurating the ceremony, former Union Minister Dr CP Thakur said that great men like Acharya Hashmi are ideal examples for the society, from whom the new generation gets inspiration. His literature and message are our heritage. His memories should be kept alive.

Chief guest of the ceremony and Chairman of State Consumer Protection Commission Justice Sanjay Kumar said that Acharya Hashmi was not only a renowned poet but also an example of communal harmony. He always emphasized this idea through his conduct and literature.

On this occasion, Principal of College of Commerce Dr. Indrajit Prasad Rai, Principal of BD College Dr. Vivekanand Singh and famous litterateur Dr. Ram Naresh Pandit 'Raman' were honoured with 'Acharya Fazlur Rahman Hashmi Smriti Samman'. All these scholars were honoured with Vandan Vastra, memento, citation and honorarium of Rs. 2100. On this occasion, the guests also released the book 'Acharya Hashmi: Biography and Achievements' written by senior journalist A.R. Azad.

Senior Vice President of the conference Jiyalal Arya, Dr. Shankar Prasad, Kumar Anupam, Vibharani Srivastava and Acharya Hashmi's poet grandson Syed Asad Azad also expressed their views.

In the kavi-sammelan organized on this occasion, senior poets Dr. Ratneshwar Singh, Prof. Ehsan Sham, Sunil Kumar, Bachcha Thakur, Aradhana Prasad, Eng. Ashok Kumar, Vinod Kumar Jha, Sadanand Prasad, Dr. R. Pravesh, Vidya Chaudhary, Dr. Pushpa Jamuar, Sunita Ranjan, Dr. Richa Verma, Dr. Meena Kumari Parihar, Surya Kumar Upadhyay, Indu Bhushan Sahay and other poets and poetesses made the ceremony interesting with their poetic compositions.

The guests were welcomed by the chairman of the forum and editor of the magazine 'Dusra Mat' A.R. Azad and the vote of thanks was given by Banke Bihari Sao. The stage was conducted by poet Brahmanand Pandey.

Senior journalists Virendra Yadav, Govind Prasad Jaiswal, Ajay Yadav, Dr. Qaiser Zahidi, Dr. Chandrashekhar Azad, Mohd. Shaukat Ali, Dr. Prem Prakash, Satish Anand, Arvind Kumar Singh and other intellectuals were present in the ceremony.
