PATNA-----------------------------The Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Smriti Stupa developed in Vaishali district of Bihar will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on July 29. This historical monument will become a center of reverence and attraction for the global Buddhist community.

Participation of monks from 15 Buddhist countries like China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal, Tibet, Myanmar, Bhutan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia, Bangladesh and Indonesia is likely in the inauguration ceremony. The stupa has been constructed by the Building Construction Department.

This grand complex spread over 72 acres of land has been developed at a cost of Rs 550.48 crore. The site is located near the historic Pushkarni pond and Mud Stupa. The sacred bone urn of Lord Buddha will be installed on the first floor of the museum, which was found in the excavation of 1958-62 and will be the main center point of the memorial.

This stupa, made entirely of stones, has been joined through tongue and groove technology with 42,373 sandstones brought from Vanshi Paharpur (Rajasthan). This structure is equipped with modern earthquake resistant techniques. Meditation center, library, visitor center, museum block, amphitheater, cafeteria, 500 kW solar power plant, parking and other facilities have also been developed in the complex.

The statue of Lord Buddha made by the artists of Odisha will be the unique identity of this place. This stupa will not only establish Vaishali on the global Buddhist map, but will also give a new direction to local tourism, culture and employment.

Department Secretary Kumar Ravi said that the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Smriti Stupa is a grand symbol of Bihar's cultural heritage and global Buddhist heritage. This memorial will establish Vaishali on the world Buddhist map and will give a new direction to tourism, culture and local employment.
