ARA---------------------------Today social media has become an important part of our lives. Lakhs of reels are created and viewed daily on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. These reels, which started as a means of entertainment, have now started forming thinking and perception in the society. But the problem arises when people consider “reel as real”.
While scrolling on social media, we often see such videos in which it is claimed that –If you do not like or share, you will become poor. By doing this trick, you can become rich. By doing a certain remedy, the crisis will be removed immediately. The world will end on a particular date.
All these are fake and misleading content. Those who make such videos often take advantage of people's emotions, religious faith and fear. The sad thing is that a large number of people get misled by believing them to be true.
Many self-proclaimed “religious gurus” and hypocrites also spread superstition through reels. They confuse the public by showing miraculous remedies, fake tricks and fake predictions. That section of the society, which is struggling with lack of education and awareness, easily gets trapped in their trap. Fake reels are affecting the youth and teenagers the most. They start believing in false claims after watching these videos. They develop wrong feelings. They get lost in the "reel world" by running away from the challenges of real life. Gradually this mentality becomes dangerous for the society. This is not just a matter of technology or social media. It is also a question of social and administrative responsibility. The government should take strict action against those who make fake reels. Social media companies should also take responsibility and strengthen the fact-checking system. The aware section of the society will have to come forward and tell people that not every video is true. Do not blindly consider any video as "real". If any claim seems true, then definitely check its source and facts. Explain to children and youth that there is a difference between entertainment and reality. Report fake content and make your friends aware of it too.
