PATNA----------------------The NDA has won a landslide victory in the by-elections held for four seats in the Bihar Assembly. The NDA has won all four seats. This by-election was being described as a semi-final before the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Let's understand the reasons behind the NDA's victory in all four seats.
The Grand Alliance's defeat in all four seats: All political parties were claiming victory for their alliance in the by-elections. Tejashwi Yadav and RJD leaders were openly saying that they would win all four seats. But the election results now raise questions: where did the RJD or Tejashwi Yadav go wrong? Why did the RJD lose even in a seat that was once an impregnable fortress for the RJD?
RJD's MY equation shattered, Kushwaha voters also not on its side: Senior journalist Kaushalendra Priyadarshi believes that RJD has suffered a major setback in this by-election. Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav's traditional MY equation has broken this time. The Kushwaha voters they were wooing also failed to support them.
"The RJD suffered its biggest setback in Belagnj, where RJD had never lost an election. However, this assembly by-election saw a fragmentation of the Yadav vote. The JDU fielded a strong Yadav candidate, resulting in a fragmentation of Yadav voters. Furthermore, the Jan Suraj candidate was successful in dividing the Muslim vote. In Belagnj, both Muslims and Yadavs deserted the Yadavs, resulting in their first-ever defeat there." - Kaushalendra Priyadarshi, senior journalist
Splitting of Yadav votes in Ramgarh: Kaushalendra Priyadarshi says that the BJP defeated the CPIML in the Tarari assembly constituency. Kushwaha voters here openly voted for the NDA. In Ramgarh, too, a fragmentation of the Yadav vote was evident. Despite RJD having a Rajput candidate, the Rajput voters were divided, and Yadav voters overwhelmingly voted for the BSP candidate. While Prashant Kishore was the Kushwaha candidate, Kushwaha support also appeared to be flowing to the NDA.
The NDA's new form paid off: Kaushalendra Priyadarshi says that the NDA's strong and united fight in the Bihar Assembly by-elections resulted in their victory in all four seats. The broad alliance of Upendra Kushwaha and Jitan Ram Manjhi, along with the JDU, BJP, and LJP, yielded benefits.
"Politics in Bihar revolves around caste. When caste politics is played, the results are consistent. In the Lok Sabha elections, the RJD played the Kushwaha card, which cost the NDA dearly." However, this time the situation was different." - Kaushalendra Priyadarshi, senior journalist
A warning bell for Tejashwi: Kaushalendra Priyadarshi believes that this by-election holds a significant message for Tejashwi Yadav. On one hand, he talks about the A to Z of Bihar, and as the elections approach, he again gets stuck on the "MY" equation. This will require some thought. Tejashwi Yadav is in politics, but he doesn't constantly reside in the constituency. He needs to stay in the constituency. He needs to win the public's trust. The way the by-election results have played out suggests that a repeat of the 2010 election results may occur in 2025. Tejashwi Yadav must prepare now and find a solution.
"Defeat due to the establishment": Regarding this unexpected defeat, the RJD claims that the All India Alliance suffered defeat in Bihar due to the administration. RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav said that the district administration's rampage was evident in the by-election.
"The way the administration was misused is the reason why the ruling party won." There has been no split in our vote bank. The vote bank that existed before is still with the RJD. A perception is being created about the vote bank." - Shakti Singh Yadav, Spokesperson, RJD
Enthusiasm in the NDA: Following the results of the assembly by-elections, JDU workers have once again begun claiming that a government will be formed under the leadership of Nitish Kumar in next year's assembly elections. The party's state general secretary, Chhotu Singh, claims that the people of Bihar love Nitish Kumar and that, based on his work, Nitish Kumar will again become the Chief Minister of Bihar in 2025. They will win 225 seats.
Tejaswi Fails the Litmus Test!: Of the four Bihar assembly seats being contested, three were held by the All India Alliance and one by the NDA. The RJD held Belagnj and Ramgarh, the CPIML held Tarari, and the Hindustani Awam Morcha held Imamganj. In terms of seats, this by-election was a litmus test for the All India Alliance. In this by-election, the All India Alliance led by Tejashwi Yadav suffered losses on all three seats in Bihar.
Imamganj Assembly: In the by-elections held for four seats in the Bihar Assembly, Jitan Ram Manjhi's daughter-in-law Deepa Manjhi defeated RJD's Roshan Manjhi by 5945 votes from the Imamganj seat. Deepa Manjhi received 53435 votes, while RJD candidate Roshan Manjhi received 47490 votes. Jan Suraj candidate Jitendra Paswan received 37103 votes.
Tarari Assembly: In Tarari, BJP candidate Vishal Prashant defeated CPIML'sDefeated Raju Yadav by 10,507 votes. BJP candidate Vishal Prashant received 78,564 votes, while CPIML's Raju Yadav received 68,057 votes. Jan Suraj candidate Kiran Singh received only 5,593 votes. Belaganj Assembly Constituency: If there was any assembly constituency in Bihar that was RJD's strongest stronghold, it was Belagnj Assembly Constituency. Since the formation of RJD, RJD has always won this seat. This time, this strong RJD fortress was breached. JDU's Manorama Devi defeated Vishwanath Singh by a huge margin of 21,391 votes. Manorama Devi received 73,334 votes, while Vishwanath Yadav received 51,953 votes. Jan Suraj candidate Mohammad Amjad received 17,285 votes. Ramgarh Assembly Constituency: Ramgarh Assembly Constituency was also a strong RJD stronghold. RJD state president Jagdanand Singh was previously elected MLA. Last time, his elder son, Sudhakar Singh, was elected MLA from here. In this by-election, Jagdanand Singh's younger son, Ajit Singh, came in third. BJP's Ashok Kumar Singh defeated BSP's Satish Kumar Singh by 1,362 votes. Ashok Kumar Singh received 71,257 votes. BSP candidate Satish Kumar Singh came in second with 69,895 votes. RJD candidate Ajit Kumar Singh received 35,825 votes and finished third. The Jan Suraj candidate finished fourth.
