ARA----------------------The monthly meeting of the District Ganga Committee was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Development Commissioner. In this meeting, decisions were taken on various points, in which mainly all the Block Development Officers of Ganga Gram were directed to re-verify Ganga Grams: As per the letter and norms of NMCG, all the villages within a distance of 1 kilometer from the banks of Ganga are to be included as Ganga Grams. Accordingly, District Ganga Committees can be advised to re-verify. So that it can be ascertained whether all the villages fulfilling the above criteria on the banks of Ganga are included under the NMCG initiative or not. This re-survey should be completed by the end of October and a detailed report for inclusion of villages can be sent to both NMCG and DDWS along with their GIS tagging. Also, there is an urgent need to identify the drainage points into Ganga and survey and identify all the drains (both big and small) carrying wastewater into Ganga, especially in rural areas. After identification, these drains should either be closed and/or the wastewater being discharged should be treated as per standards. For this, existing funds under SBM-G can be used and if they are insufficient, specific allocation of funds can be requested along with technically approved estimates of the proposed works. You will agree that both the above activities need to be done in a time-bound manner. Accordingly, identification of drains may be done by the end of October and estimates of the proposed works may be approved by the end of November. If necessary, additional funds may be allocated to DDWS by the end of November. I have directed the Agriculture Department to complete the trial of zero budget farming and organic farming for the farmers of Ganga Gram before the 15th of next month and submit the report. This department of the District Water Security Committee has been directed to complete the work of wall painting for Ganga awareness and cleanliness in all the villages of Ganga Gram. The Deputy Development Commissioner directed the Block Development Officer and Circle Officer of Barhar block to provide NOC for construction of permanent ghats at Sinha and Mahuli Ganga Ghat as soon as possible. Nodal Officer District Ganga Committee Bhojpur, District Coordinator District Water and Sanitation Bhojpur, District Project Officer District Ganga Committee Bhojpur and officers of other departments were present in this meeting.
