PATNA-------------------------In a major and strict decision, the Panchayati Raj Department of Bihar has ordered a thorough investigation of the credentials of technical assistants working across the state. The department has received continuous complaints that many employees have been working on the basis of fake degrees for the past 7 years. Now, action is expected against such employees.
Shams Javed Ansari, Joint Secretary of the Panchayati Raj Department, has issued a strict letter (letter number: 13464) to all district Panchayat Raj officials. The letter clearly states that under departmental resolution number 4046 (dated 25.07.2018), one technical assistant was appointed for every four Panchayats in the state.
Surprisingly, nearly seven years after the recruitment process was completed, the department is still receiving complaints that many technical assistants obtained the job using fake certificates.
The department has now abandoned its indecisive approach and issued directives for comprehensive action:
1. Camp-based verification: The certificates of technical assistants working in all districts will no longer be verified in the usual manner, but will be conducted on a war-footing in a 'camp-based' manner.
2. Record verification: Current documents will be verified against the records submitted at the time of their appointment.
3. Direct action: The letter clearly states that if a technical assistant's certificate is found to be fake, not only will their service be terminated, but legal action (FIR) will be initiated against them as per the rules and the department will be informed.
Since this order, issued on November 10, 2025, there has been an uproar among employees working at the block and district levels whose documents are found to be inaccurate. It is believed that coming under the ambit of this investigation may lead to large-scale dismissals in many districts.
