New Delhi (RNI) The dispute surrounding governance within the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has entered a crucial judicial phase, with the BCCI Ombudsman, Justice (Retd.) Arun Kumar Mishra, formally scheduling a hearing in the matter.
The proceedings arise from a complaint filed by Upendra Yadav on August 18, 2025, alleging irregularities and a lack of transparency in the functioning of the UPCA. The Ombudsman’s latest order, dated November 20, 2025 (Reference No. 04/2025), marks a substantial step forward in the case titled Upendra Yadav vs. Ashok Chaturvedi & Others.
In the order, the Ombudsman acknowledged the reply submitted by UPCA officials, including Ashok Chaturvedi, on November 5, 2025, in response to an earlier Show Cause Notice. The complainant has been given ten days to file a rejoinder. The matter has been scheduled for a physical hearing in New Delhi on December 10, 2025, at 12:00 noon.
The case has generated significant interest among cricket followers in Uttar Pradesh. Supporters of Yadav have characterized the move toward a formal hearing as a “decisive turn” in efforts to address concerns about administration within the state cricket body. The complaint is understood to highlight issues related to procedural lapses, opacity in operations, and broader governance concerns within the UPCA.
While the validity of the allegations will be tested during the hearing, the progression of the case is seen as an important acknowledgment of the push for greater accountability. Many observers believe the Ombudsman’s intervention could have far-reaching implications for the future of cricket governance in Uttar Pradesh, raising hopes for a more transparent and fair administrative environment for players, officials, and fans.
The December hearing is expected to play a pivotal role in determining how the conflict unfolds and what it may mean for the future of UP cricket administration.
