BHABHUA-------------------------Police in the district have busted an interstate gang that duped people of ₹6.5 lakh by luring them with the promise of doubling their money. The arrested accused has been identified as Ravindra Prajapati.
Bhabua SDPO Manoranjan Bharti, providing details of the case, said that Ramsevak Singh, son of Harivansh Singh, a resident of Khanethi village in the Sonhan police station area, filed a complaint at the police station on February 15th. According to the victim, on January 30th, some unknown individuals approached him under the pretext of buying or selling land. During the conversation, the fraudsters lured him with the promise of doubling his ₹500 notes. The accused showed him a bundle of white notes and told him that if they were cleaned with water, they would become real ₹500 notes.
Believing this, Ramsevak Singh gave them ₹6.5 lakh. As soon as they got their hands on the money, the fraudsters suddenly raised an alarm about the arrival of the police and, taking advantage of the chaos, fled with the victim's real money. After receiving the complaint, the police took immediate action and arrested the gang's main leader, Ravindra Prajapati. SDPO Manoranjan Bharti appealed to the public not to fall prey to such fraudsters. He said that there is no magic formula for doubling money; hard work is the only way.
