ARA------------------------------Senior Consultant Physician and former SCMO of Ara city, Dr. K.N. Sinha, was awarded a record certificate by "Asia Books of Records." This certifies that Dr. Sinha conducted a campaign for "Antimicrobial Resistance" awareness.

Dr. Sinha said that the general public and medical professionals should be aware of "antimicrobial resistance" and should use antibiotics very carefully and only when absolutely necessary. Everyone should be well aware of its dangers. No medical shop should give antibiotics to the general public without a doctor's advice and prescription.

The general public should also not use antibiotics on their own. Because indiscriminate use of antibiotics can damage the liver, heart, and kidneys. Many antibiotics also affect the brain. Along with antibiotics, it is always necessary to take vitamins and sometimes pre and post-biotic capsules. In the current changing weather, common cold viral infections are more prevalent, which usually resolve on their own in three to five days.

Only symptomatic medication should be taken for relief. If any cough, cold, or fever persists for more than a week, or if the sputum is yellow, then antibiotics should be used only after consulting a doctor. Many wounds, boils, and pimples also heal on their own or with anti-allergic medication and hot water compresses. Despite this, people indiscriminately take antibiotics, which is risky.

Taking antibiotics repeatedly leads to "body resistance," due to which mild and medium-level antibiotics become ineffective when needed. Antibiotics don't always work, and sometimes very strong antibiotics have to be prescribed. Even then, they may not be effective, and the side effects can be significant.

Sometimes, for an upset stomach, fasting, eating yogurt, or taking prebiotics and probiotics can help. People often panic and start taking antibiotic pills, which is harmful.  Later, for many common illnesses, home remedies and Ayurvedic medicines can be quite effective alternatives to antibiotics.
