DELHI-----------------------10 prisoners who escaped from Nepal's Jaleshwar jail were caught by SSB while trying to infiltrate India. The prisoners include 8 Nepalese and 2 Indians. Security has been increased on the border after the incident.

India's neighboring country Nepal is currently in political and social turmoil. The fire of protests has spread from the capital Kathmandu to rural areas. The movement started against corruption and the ban imposed on social media has taken a violent turn. The situation became such that the protesters set the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Supreme Court on fire, after which the command of the country has been handed over to the Nepali Army.

Amidst this chaos, a major jailbreak incident has come to light from Jaleshwar Jail in Mahottari district. In this incident that took place on Tuesday, 576 out of 577 prisoners escaped, while only one prisoner was caught by the Armed Police Force of Nepal. Some prisoners who escaped from jail were trying to enter the Indian border, where they were caught due to the vigilant surveillance of SSB.

Late on Tuesday night, these prisoners were trying to secretly cross the border and enter India. SSB jawans took them into custody and handed them over to Bhittha and Sursand police station. The 10 prisoners caught include 8 Nepalese and 2 Indian citizens. In the preliminary investigation, all have been declared undertrial prisoners.

Bhittha police station in-charge Manoj Kumar said that the arrested Nepalese prisoners include Ramgulam Mahato (Mukhiyapatti Musaharniya, Dhanusha), Vinod Rai (Hasanpur Nagarpalika, Aurahi police station area), Mojahid Ansari (Dhirapur, Mahottari), Surendra Sah Sonar (Khutta Pipradhi, Loharpatti), Indresh Mandal (Kurtha, Dhanusha), Krishna Kumar Mahato (Yadukaha, Dhanusha). At the same time, Indian citizens include Mohan Kumar (Hajipur, Vaishali district) and Guddu Kumar (Parsauni Khem, Motihari).

Sursand police station in-charge Dhananjay Kumar Pandey said that two more people have been detained from his police station area, including Riyaz Dafali (Ward-1, Jaleshwar) and Rajesh Tamang (Hethauda, Ward-3, Nepal). At present, everyone has been kept in police stations and further action will be taken on the instructions of senior officers. The ongoing protest in Nepal started against corruption cases and ban on social media. Gradually this movement became nationwide and turned into violence. The protesters vandalized and set fire to the residence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, houses and offices of several ministers and leaders. The mob also attacked the houses of former Prime Minister Prachanda and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

To control the situation, the Nepal government lifted the social media ban on Monday night, but the anger of the protesters did not subside. They are demanding action against those responsible for the death of 19 civilians. Curfew has been imposed in Nepal's Mahottari district and surrounding areas following the jailbreak incident. There is a high alert in the India-Nepal border areas, and deployment of security forces has been increased. Tense calm prevails in Jaleshwor town and other areas, although according to officials the situation is under control.
