ARA----------------------------Sharadiya Navratri is not just a religious festival, but a wonderful confluence of spiritual awakening, social unity, and cultural heritage. Extending his divine and auspicious greetings for Sharadiya Navratri, social activist Shashi Mishra said, "May this Navratri bring not only worldly happiness and prosperity to your life, but also spiritual progress, inner peace, and the eternal light of devotion." He explained that during the nine days of Navratri, nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped, each symbolizing some spiritual quality or value in our lives. Shailputri conveys patience and stability, Brahmacharini inspires wisdom and self-control, Chandraghanta dispels fear and doubt, Kushmanda infuses energy and light into life, Skandamata bestows compassion and the power of motherhood, Katyayani inspires overcoming difficulties and obstacles, Kaalratri dispels darkness and negativity, Mahagauri conveys peace and beauty, and Siddhidatri bestows blessings of spiritual practice and success. The practice of these nine forms brings purity and power to mind, words, and actions.
Navratri begins with the installation of the Kalash. The Kalash, a symbol of life, is combined with water, metal, and unbroken rice grains to invoke the divine power. This reminds us that the Kalash of our mind and soul must also be pure, for the divine energy of God can flow into it.
Fasting, bhajans, kirtans, and spiritual practices hold special significance during these nine days. Fasting is not merely a physical sacrifice, but a path to conquering the desires of the mind and purifying the soul. When the mind is controlled, the soul is purified, and God's grace flows more intensely into our lives.
The social and cultural aspects of Sharadiya Navratri are also extremely important. Pandals are decorated in villages and cities, Garba and Devi festivals are held, and people participate collectively in devotional songs and dances. This festival conveys the message of unity, cooperation, and mutual affection in society. It also serves as a means of preserving our culture and traditions. Navratri concludes on Vijayadashami, which reminds us that the power of truth, righteousness, and goodness ultimately triumphs over all evil and darkness. This is not just an external victory, but also symbolizes the destruction of negative tendencies within us. If we cultivate strength, self-control, and purity within ourselves, all the darkness in life can be dispelled. This festival symbolizes spiritual practice, social unity, and cultural respect, and teaches us to walk the path of truth, power, love, and cooperation in life. Navratri is not just a festival of worship; it is an occasion for spiritual, social, and cultural awakening.
