ARA---------------------------At the Paramanpur Chaturmasya fasting site, India's great sage, Shri Lakshmiprapanna Jiyar Swami Ji Maharaj, shed light on the lineage of Lord Shri Ram and Sita through the Srimad Bhagavata Katha. Lord Shri Ram was born in the Suryavanshi dynasty. Sita was also born in the Suryavanshi lineage. From the navel of Lord Shriman Narayana came a lotus, from that lotus came Brahma, Brahma's son was Marichi Rishi, Marichi Rishi's son was Kashyap Rishi, Kashyap Rishi's son was Surya, and Lord Shri Ram was born in the Suryavanshi lineage.
On the holy banks of the Ganges, Shri Shukdev Ji is lecturing King Parikshit on the Srimad Bhagavata. In this, he narrates the life story of Lord Shri Ram and the Suryavanshi lineage. Surya's son was Shraddhadeva Vaivasvata Manu. In whose lineage was King Trishanku, there was King Harishchandra, followed by King Sagar, and in Sagar's lineage was King Bhagirathi. After Bhagiratha, there was a king named Saudasa, whose son was named Asmat.
Asmat's son was Mulak. Mulak's lineage was Dasharatha, Dasharatha's son was Khatvang, and his son was Dirghavahu, and in their lineage was King Raghu. King Raghu's son was Aja, and Aja's son was Chakravarti King Dasharatha. King Dasharatha's sons were Lord Shri Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughan.
After Lord Shri Ram, the Suryavanshi lineage continued, with Lord Shri Ram's sons being Luv, Kush, and Kush's son being Atithi. Atithi's son was Nishak, Nishak's son was Nabha, Nabha's son was Pundrik, and in Pundrik's lineage was King Prasenjit. In Prosenjit's lineage was the famous King Surat. The last king in the lineage was Sumit.
Sita's lineage is also Suryavanshi, as she too is descended from the Sun God. Just as in the lineage of Manu, the son of Surya, there was King Ikshvaku. King Ikshvaku had hundreds of sons, one of whom was King Nemi. A child was born from King Nemi's body through churning, who was named Janak. Janak was also known as Videha and Mithil. Now, the names of all the kings in this lineage were prefixed with Janak and Videha. King Devraj was followed by King Devraj.
King Devraj's lineage included Marud, Marud's lineage included Devhid, Devhid's lineage included Maharuma, Maharuma's lineage included Swarnruma, Swarnruma's lineage included Harshruma, and Harshruma's lineage included Siradhwaj. Sita was born from Siradhwaj, also known as Janak. Siradhwaj then became Kushaldhwaj, and King Janak's lineage included Kushaldhwaj. Kushaladhwaj's son was Dharmadhwaj, Dharmadhwaj's son was Kirtadhwaj, Mittaladhwaj's son was Kesidhhwaj.
Later in this lineage, a king named Arishtanemi was born. Much later, in this lineage, King Chitraratha was born. From Chitraratha, Mithilapati Chemdi was born, and in Chemdi's lineage, King Kirti was born. Kirti's son was King Mahavasi.
In the Suryavansh lineage, Lord Sriman Narayana was born as Shri Ram, the son of King Dasharatha and Kaushalya. King Dasharatha was married to Kaushalya, the daughter of King Kaushalya. Later, he married Kaikeyi, the daughter of King Kekaya, and Sumitra.
King Dasharatha had no son. Then, on the orders of Sage Vashishtha, he summoned Sage Shringi to perform a yajna. Sage Shringi offered King Dasharatha an oblation. King Dasharatha divided the offerings among his three wives. An eagle snatched the offering from Kaikeyi's hands and flew away. At the same spot, Anjana, the wife of the monkey king Kesari, was praying to Lord Shiva for a son. The eagle dropped the offering near Anjana, who then ate it. From it, Hanuman was born.
Dasharatha's three wives ate the offering, resulting in the birth of four sons. Ram was born to Kaushalya, Bharat to Kaikeyi, and Lakshman and Shatrughan to Sumitra. When Shri Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughan grew up, sage Vishwamitra asked for Ram and Lakshman and brought them to Buxar from Dasharatha, where Ram and Lakshman killed Tataka and Subahu.
It was there, in Buxar, that Lord Shri Ram also rescued Gautam Rishi's wife, Ahalya, who had been reduced to stone. From there, sage Vishwamitra took Ram and Lakshman to Mithila, where Sita's swayamvara was taking place. Ram broke the bow and married Sita. Lakshman married Urmila, Bharat married Mandavi, and Shatrughan married Shrutakirti.
Sita was born from a pot that emerged from the ground. Ravana used to extract the blood of sages and saints and store it in a pot. Mandodari once accidentally drank it. She conceived a child. One day, a divine voice announced that if a child was born from this womb, a great catastrophe would occur. So Ravana carried the child in a pot and buried it in the ground.
Once, a drought struck Mithila due to lack of rain. King Janak was plowing the field, and at that moment, the pot collided with Janak's plow. Sita was born from that pot. King Janak took her and started raising her like his own daughter. Sita's Swayamvara was held there once, where Janak kept the Shiva Dhanush given by Parashuram as a condition for the Swayamvara. His condition was that Sita would marry the one who would lift this bow and string it. Lord Shri Ram had come there with Vishwamitra. There, on Vishwamitra's orders, he lifted the Shiva Dhanush and broke it. The tragedy happened.
After returning to Ayodhya, Ram was exiled to Ayodhya for 14 years due to public criticism. He killed several prominent demons, including Ravana and Kumbhakaran. He returned to Ayodhya and established Ramrajya as king. A few days later, Sita had to return to the forest to restore peace and end public criticism. Sita gave birth to two sons, Luv and Kush. Later, with the blessings of Sage Valmiki, Luv and Kush narrated the story of the Ramayana to Lord Ram.
After this, he summoned Sita and asked her to take a test in front of society. At that moment, Sita called out to Mother Earth, and the earth split open, taking Sita with her. Similarly, Ram also made the sons of Luv, Kush, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughan kings. He then departed for Saket Dham with the four brothers and many people from Ayodhya. According to Ramayana, Lord Shri Ram's reign was for 11000 years and according to Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, Lord Shri Ram's reign was for 13 thousand years.
