This year, the auspicious time for Govardhan Puja is from 3:13 pm to 5:49 pm. On this date, there will be a combination of Swati Nakshatra and Preeti. Significantly, on this day, the Sun, the king of planets, will be in Libra, where the Moon will also transit. Therefore, this time will be auspicious for the puja.

Draw a picture of Govardhan in the courtyard using cow dung and offer roli, rice, puffed rice, sweets, rice, water, milk, betel leaves, saffron, flowers, etc. After this, worship a cow, bull, or other cattle. Then, an earthen lamp made of cow dung is placed at the navel of Govardhan Maharaj, and milk, curd, Ganga water, and honey are poured into it. After the puja, the offerings are distributed as prasad. Following the aarti of Govardhan Maharaj, the circumambulation is performed seven times, with water being poured from a pot in the hand, accompanied by chants of Jaikara. In the evening, a lamp is placed at the entrance of the house. Cows should also be bathed, decorated, and worshipped.

Govardhan Puja is directly linked to nature and humanity. On this day, the main ritual is to worship Govardhan Parvat and Lord Krishna. Annakut (food offering) is prepared in homes, and offerings are made to Govardhan Maharaj. Although the festival of Govardhan is celebrated throughout the country, its grandeur is seen throughout Braj, including Mathura, Vrindavan, and Gokul. Worshiping Govardhan Maharaj increases wealth and good fortune and removes all family worries. According to the Skanda Purana, worshipping cows on the day of Govardhan Puja removes all evils and brings success in life.
