SASARAM---------------------------“If we want to save Sanatan Dharma, first save the cow, because the cow is not just an animal; it is the living embodiment of the earth itself, capable of fulfilling all our desires.” This profound and powerful statement was delivered by Uttaramnaya Jyotishpeethadhiswar Paramdharmadhis Paramparadhyay Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati in a divine discourse during his ongoing Chaturmas at the Kora Center in Borivali.

He said that Lord Brahma created the cow for the overall physical and spiritual well-being of humans. The cow not only provides milk, but also provides everything – body, mind, children, health, and prosperity. She is a goddess who encompasses everything. The cow is the fundamental inspiration for yagya (sacrifice). The milk, ghee, dung, wood, barley, sesame seeds, and jaggery are used as samidha (firewood) in the yagya. The calf plows the field, and food is produced from it. Therefore, yajna and the cow are the soul of Sanatan culture.

Shankaracharya Ji, while addressing the devotees, highlighted the significance of yajna. He said, "When Brahma created us, our brother yajna also appeared with us. The mantras chanted by Brahmins in yajna and the materials produced from cows make it possible to attain Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha." He clarified that the cow and Brahmin are two major pillars of Sanatan Dharma, whose respect and protection is the duty of every religious person.

Shankaracharya Avimukteshwarananda Ji said that today those who want to destroy Sanatan Dharma are attacking the cow first. Therefore, for those who believe in the true Sanatan Dharma, the protection and dignity of Mother Cow should be paramount. With this sentiment, he has launched a nationwide public campaign to declare the cow as the "Mother of the Nation," which is receiving widespread public support.

Under this campaign, he is carrying out a nationwide religious awakening campaign with the pledge of performing 33 crore Gau Pratishtha Mahayagnas. Currently, during the Chaturmas in Borivali, the Mahayagna is continuing uninterrupted at 108 yagna kunds, with Vedic acharyas and Brahmins chanting Vedic mantras. Devotees, religious volunteers, and cow devotees from across Mumbai and the country are enthusiastically participating and offering oblations.

On this sacred occasion of Chaturmas, numerous religious rituals, including Rudra Mahabhishek, Gau Pratishtha Yagna, Paduka Pooja, and Chandramoolishwar Pooja, are being performed from morning until late at night. The organizers have urged all devotees to reach the Chaturmas site and participate in these holy events, and contribute to the protection of Sanatan Dharma by participating in the consecration of Mother Cow.

“Save the cow, this is the true service of Sanatan Dharma” – this call by Shankaracharya is now becoming a mass movement.
