A case has been registered against the accused under Section 308(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Upon receiving the complaint, the police investigated the matter, and the allegations were found to be true. Following the confirmation of the demand for ₹10,000 in the name of the police station, Chand Police Station Case No. 314/26 was registered on July 17, 2026, based on a written application by Ayodhya Singh. Subsequently, taking swift action, the police arrested Dhannjay Singh alias Bhantu—son of Rajendra Singh and a resident of Padhi, under Chand police station, Kaimur district. During interrogation, the accused admitted his involvement in the matter. The police recovered ₹2,200 in cash and a mobile phone from the accused's possession. The police stated that strict action would continue against those who extort money from people by invoking the name of the police or the police station.
