PATNA--------------------------If your vehicle has received an incorrect traffic fine, you no longer need to run around to various offices. You can now check the status of applications related to the cancellation or modification of incorrect fines online. If a driver receives an incorrect fine, they will not need to visit any office for cancellation or modification. Applications for cancellation/modification of erroneous e-challans can also be submitted online. For this purpose, the Transport Department has instructed NIC (National Informatics Centre) to provide an online service for applicants seeking cancellation/modification of erroneous e-challans.
Transport Secretary Raj Kumar stated that the process for applying for cancellation/modification of erroneous e-challans has been started online. Currently, applications will be accepted in both online and offline modes. The launch of the online service will save people from inconvenience, wasted time, and unnecessary visits to offices.
Under the new system, applicants can register complaints related to incorrect e-challans from their homes using their mobile phones or computers. All necessary documents such as vehicle registration, vehicle photo, and a copy of the challan can be uploaded directly to the portal, and the application status can also be viewed online. Applicants can either submit the application with the required documents or write a message in the text box on the online website.
The Transport Department has instructed the traffic police and enforcement units to investigate online complaints on a priority basis and, according to the Transport Department's SOP, send recommendations for cancellation of erroneous challans to the State Transport Commissioner and for modification to the concerned District Transport Officer within the stipulated timeframe.
The Transport Secretary stated that drivers facing incorrect fines will no longer have to go through complex procedures and will receive a solution within a definite timeframe. The Transport Department appeals to all drivers to use the online complaint facility instead of visiting offices for any problems related to incorrect fines and to strengthen road safety and traffic management by following traffic rules.
