ARA-------------------------On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, the city of Ara, Bihar, witnessed a unique confluence of culture and devotion. In sharp contrast to a controversial Dandiya event organized by Veer Kunwar Singh University (VKSU), the "Abhivyakti Program" held at the Shubh Narayan Nagar campus of Sambhavna Residential High School presented a unique example of dignity and enthusiasm. Here, 400 girl students mesmerized the audience by performing Bihar's traditional Jhijhiya and Gujarat's famous Dandiya dance. This event not only highlighted cultural diversity but also conveyed the importance of maintaining decorum during celebrations. The program was jointly inaugurated by the school's Principal, Dr. Archana Singh, and officials of the Nagar Ramlila Committee Trust. In her address, Dr. Singh said, "Every girl is a form of Goddess Durga, and in this form, both values and culture are reflected." Her words filled the atmosphere with devotion. The students divided into different groups performed. One group brought Bihar's folk culture to life through the Jhijhiya dance. This traditional dance, in which women dance in a circle while balancing lamp-shaped lamps on their heads, is associated with Sharadiya Navratri. Another group showcased the energetic traditions of Gujarat through the clashing of dandiya sticks. The highlight was when all 400 students performed the Dandiya dance together. The campus reverberated with the powerful clash of the dandiya sticks, and the audience erupted in thunderous applause. This spectacle was not only filled with devotion but also became a symbol of cultural unity. The blend of the tenderness of Jhijhiya and the energetic rhythm of Dandiya left everyone stunned. The program made it clear that folk dances are irreplaceable during festivals like Navratri, but they must be performed within the bounds of decorum. On the other hand, the recent Dandiya event at VKSU tarnished the university's image due to indiscipline and vulgarity. The event lacked proper decorum, sparking social debate. In contrast, the Sambhavna School performance set an example. It imparted values alongside dance, inspiring society. The "Abhivyakti Program" ultimately conveyed the message that celebration and decorum can coexist during Navratri. This is the hallmark of true culture. While Sambhavna School's event was a wonderful confluence of devotional and folk culture, it also proved that an event can be memorable while remaining within decorum. This effort in Ara not only inspired the local community but also spread cultural awareness throughout Bihar. Such events are connecting the new generation to their roots.
