DELHI---------------------------President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday conferred the ‘National Florence Nightingale Awards’ for the year 2026 upon 15 nursing professionals for their exemplary contribution and service in strengthening public healthcare services.
Speaking on the occasion, the President stated, “Nursing personnel exemplify the highest standards of service and play a pivotal role in delivering quality healthcare, often even amidst the most challenging circumstances. I congratulate all the awardees for their inspiring devotion to duty and their tireless efforts in upholding the highest standards of patient care.”
A total of 15 nurses, drawn from diverse regions and healthcare institutions, were honored for their unwavering dedication toward strengthening public healthcare services and their exceptional commitment to the welfare of the community.
These awards were presented during a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, in the presence of Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda.
In her message, the President remarked that this occasion serves to accord due recognition to the invaluable contributions of nursing personnel and healthcare professionals who serve the nation with compassion and unwavering dedication.
Instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the ‘National Florence Nightingale Awards’ honor the dedication, compassion, and resilience of nursing professionals—including registered nurses, midwives, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and Lady Health Visitors—working under the Central and State governments, Union Territories, and voluntary organizations. The award comprises a Certificate of Merit, a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, and a medal.
The recipients included six ANMs and nine nurses hailing from various parts of the country, including Ladakh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Delhi, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Lakshadweep.
