ARA----------------------------A tense situation arose on Monday during the by-election for the Bhojpur-Buxar Local Authorities' Constituency of the Bihar Legislative Council (MLC), when a heated altercation broke out between the 'Mahagathbandhan' (Grand Alliance)-backed candidate, Sonu Rai, and the Super Zonal Magistrate on duty, Shashi Bhushan Tiwari. As a result of this commotion, an atmosphere of chaos and confusion prevailed at the polling station for a considerable period.
According to reports, the argument initially began over a specific issue inside the polling station. The dispute escalated rapidly, reaching a point where candidate Sonu Rai launched a direct attack on Super Zonal Magistrate Shashi Bhushan Tiwari, leveling serious allegations against him of showing "bias" in favor of the ruling party. Witnessing Sonu Rai's outburst, his supporters began to gather at the spot, causing the situation to spiral out of control.
Due to the commotion and uproar, security arrangements at the polling station were disrupted, and the voting process had to be halted for some time. Security personnel present at the scene attempted to control the crowd, but the atmosphere remained charged. This chaotic environment also created confusion and uncertainty among the voters who had arrived to cast their ballots.
Upon receiving information about the dispute, senior district administrative and police officials rushed to the scene with a heavy security contingent. The officials intervened to pacify both the Magistrate and the candidate, thereby bringing the situation under control. After nearly half an hour of tension, normalcy was restored, and voting resumed. The administration has deployed additional security forces at the center to ensure security. Officials have stated that they remain fully committed to conducting the election in a fair and peaceful manner.
