A major road accident was narrowly averted in the Kudra police station area of the district early Tuesday morning. According to reports, around 3:00 AM, a speeding gravel-laden truck—traveling from Mohania towards Sasaram—slammed violently into a truck moving ahead of it. The impact was so severe that the truck went out of control, veered across the roadside service lane, and crashed into a pillar of a nearby house, resulting in extensive damage to the vehicle.

According to reports, around 3:00 AM, a speeding gravel-laden truck—traveling from Mohania towards Sasaram—slammed violently into a truck moving ahead of it. The impact was so severe that the truck went out of control, veered across the roadside service lane, and crashed into a pillar of a nearby house, resulting in extensive damage to the vehicle.
Following the incident, an atmosphere of chaos prevailed at the scene. Alerted by the loud crash, local residents rushed to the accident site. The truck driver was found severely trapped inside the vehicle's cabin. After a strenuous effort, locals managed to extricate the driver and immediately transported him to the Kudra Primary Health Center. The injured driver has been identified as Vikas Pandey, son of Ram Kunwar Pandey, a resident of Bhairwa village under the Chand police station jurisdiction in Kaimur district. After administering first aid, and noting the driver's critical condition, doctors referred him to a higher medical facility for specialized treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck was traveling at an excessive speed, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Road traffic remained disrupted for some time following the accident. Upon receiving the information, the local police arrived at the scene and have commenced an investigation into the matter. Local residents stated that road accidents have become a frequent occurrence on the National Highway due to persistent speeding and the uncontrolled movement of heavy vehicles. The public has urged the administration to take strict action against speeding vehicles and to increase night-time patrols.
