ARA------------------------------16 Matrikas are the base of the world. There can be no welfare without them. They are the base of the universe. Tridev is also useless without them. They have many forms which are being described in different articles. In this article I am discussing 16 Matrikas. Without them the discussion of Matri Shakti is incomplete. These sixteen Matrikas are engaged in the welfare of the world. They fulfill all the wishes of the devotees. For good wishes and smooth conduct of work, these 16 Matrikas must be worshipped. In the ritual, a circle of sixteen boxes is created on the altar or board of Agnikona and these 16 Matrikas are worshipped on betel nut and rice respectively in the order of north or east face. This leads to the success of the work and the complete result is achieved.

These 16 Matrikas are the base of the world. Their names are Gauri, Padma, Shachi Megha, Savitri, Vijaya, Jaya, Pashti, Swadha, Swaha, Mothers, Lokmatas, Dhriti, Pushti, Tusti and Kul Devta. Information about their forms is being given below. Along with this, their specialties and worship mantras are also given. Their worship fulfills wishes. What is needed is devotion and regular worship.

Fame, auspiciousness, comforts, etc. practical things and giving salvation is her natural quality. She is kind to those who seek refuge and is the presiding deity of brightness. It is due to the grace of Mother Gauri that the Sun has brightness. She has an important role in keeping Mahadev powerful. Mother Gauri destroys sorrow, grief, fear, anxiety forever. Therefore, it is said in Devi Bhagwat that no work can be successful without the worship of Gauri-Ganesh.

Padma is the form of Mother Lakshmi. When Lord Kalki incarnates then the name of Mother Lakshmi is Padma. Padma appeared after the churning of the ocean. She bestows opulence, glory, wealth and prosperity. This Vishnupriya always sits on a lotus.

Mata Jaya, who provides protection to the living beings from all sides, has originated in the form of Adi Shakti. In the Kavach of Durga Saptashati, a prayer has been made to Adi Shakti- 'Jaya me chagrat: paatu vijaya paatu prishtatha:'. That is, O mother, protect me from the front in the form of Jaya and from the back in the form of Vijaya.

According to the Puranas, until the manifestation of Mata Swadha, the ancestors had to suffer from hunger and thirst. According to Brahmavaivart Purana, just by taking the name of Swadha Devi, one gets the fruits of bathing in all the holy places and gets freedom from all sins. A Brahmin becomes entitled to the fruits of Vayapeya Yagna. If Swadha, Swadha, Swadha is chanted thrice then the results of Shraddha, Balivaishvadev and Tarpan are achieved. The mother grants the desired groom to the petitioner.

It is said in the Rig Veda that mere remembrance of Mother Savitri destroys all the sins of the creature and infuses him with unprecedented new energy.

Worship Mantra:OM HRIM KLIM SHRI SAVITRYAI SWAHA.

After the killing of the demon king Andhakasura, Lord Vishnu created thirty-two matrikas from his limbs to devour the countless Andhakas that arose from his blood. They are all greatly fortunate, strong and capable of creating and destroying the three worlds. These Lokmatas protect the devotees of Vishnu and Shiva in all the worlds and fulfill their wishes.
