ARA--------------------------The lack of many basic amenities provided by the municipal government in Shahpur is a matter of concern. Residents of the city face a lack of essential amenities such as clean drinking water, drainage systems, roads, sanitation and waste management, and adequate streetlights. Over time, Shahpur has achieved many milestones of development, but even today, it struggles with the lack of many basic amenities. This lack is affecting the quality of life of ordinary citizens.

The availability of clean drinking water remains a serious concern for the residents of Shahpur. In most areas, the water supplied by the municipal council is not reaching people's homes. As a result, the poor are forced to consume untreated water, risking their health.

Contrary to the municipal council's claims, water supply is cut off in most areas. Where they are operational, the pipelines are dilapidated and leaking frequently. This not only wastes water but also mixes dirty drain water with drinking water. Due to a lack of regular maintenance and repair, this problem is worsening day by day.

The drainage system in Shahpur is in a very poor state. Waterlogging persists not only during the monsoon season but throughout the year in many wards. Most parts of Ward No. 8 remain submerged. Drains are either incomplete or clogged due to inadequate cleaning. In many areas, drains are nonexistent.

Traffic management on the main roads of Shahpur Nagar Panchayat, including Karnamepur and Banahi Road, the city's lifeline, NH-84, is also a major challenge. Unplanned parking, encroached roads, and disregard for traffic rules often lead to traffic jams.

Regular garbage collection is not conducted in many wards of the Nagar Panchayat. Despite being under the city's jurisdiction, the sanitation and waste management situation in the area is extremely concerning. Piles of garbage lie along the roadsides. The city lacks a systematic waste disposal system, leaving the entire city in the grip of filth.
