LEGAL AID AWARENESS PROGRAMME ORGANIZED

BHABHUA------------------------A special legal aid awareness program was organized at Lalgarh Chowk in the Dumri Katsari block of the district. The event was conducted under the able guidance of the Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Sheohar, and Secretary Lalan Kumar Ranjak.

Panel Advocate Jitendra Kunwar and Para-Legal Volunteer Jitesh Kumar from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) actively participated in this awareness program.

During the event, Panel Advocate Jitendra Kunwar addressed the villagers present. He provided detailed information regarding NALSA guidelines and the functioning of the Jail Legal Aid Clinic.

Kunwar clarified that no undertrial or convicted prisoner would be deprived of legal counsel due to a lack of funds. The District Legal Services Authority provides prisoners with free legal counsel, assistance during bail and remand stages, and updates on the status of their cases—all free of cost.

Addressing the villagers, Para-Legal Volunteer Jitesh Kumar stated that the Authority's primary objective is to protect the human rights of incarcerated prisoners and ensure access to justice for the weaker sections of society.

He explained that if a family member is imprisoned and the family is unable to afford the fees of a private lawyer, they can directly visit the Front Office of the District Legal Services Authority, Sheohar, to apply for free legal aid.

A large number of villagers, including local public representatives, attended the program. They appreciated the awareness campaign and gained valuable information regarding their legal rights.
