ARA--------------------------A shocking incident occurred on Sunday evening in Tipura village, under the jurisdiction of the Bihiya police station in Bhojpur district, where armed miscreants brutally shot and killed a young man. The deceased had been released on bail from jail only about two months prior. News of the incident spread quickly, creating an atmosphere of panic throughout the village and surrounding areas. Speculation abounded, and a crowd of villagers soon gathered at the scene. Upon receiving the information, a police team from the Bihiya station arrived and initiated an investigation.
Based on the circumstances at the scene, it appears the attackers targeted the victim from very close range. He was shot in the back of the head, causing him to collapse with critical injuries. The police cordoned off the area, began collecting evidence, and questioned bystanders. Meanwhile, enraged villagers blocked the Bihiya-Jagdishpur road near the Shiva temple at the turn-off for Khadra by burning tires.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Rajesh Yadav, son of Dashrath Singh and a resident of Rupbandh village under the Jagdishpur police station area. Rajesh was a farmer by profession. Police records indicate a prior criminal history; consequently, authorities suspect the motive could stem from an old enmity, a personal dispute, or a connection to a criminal gang. However, the specific reason for the murder has not yet been confirmed by the preliminary investigation.
According to the deceased's uncle, Joginder Yadav, Rajesh had left on his motorcycle to get medicine for his mother. He had gone to Kateya village with his uncle, Hulas Yadav; while returning, he was intercepted by a group of people near Tipura village. Joginder Yadav alleges that Yogendra Yadav, along with his associates, surrounded Rajesh and opened rapid fire. The shots were fired from such close range that he had no chance to escape. Joginder Yadav states that the attackers targeted Rajesh with the clear intent to kill, effectively causing his death right at the scene.
Family members acknowledge that Rajesh Yadav had disputes with certain individuals in the village, but they do not believe there was any direct conflict with the specific persons currently being accused. This has made the motive behind the murder even more mysterious. The family alleges that Yogendra Yadav was accompanied by others who collaborated to carry out the crime; however, the identities and roles of these other individuals remain unclear.
Acting swiftly, the police initiated raids on the suspected hideouts of the accused. During a raid on Yogendra Yadav's residence, a country-made pistol (*desi katta*) was reportedly recovered. According to the police, the weapon has been seized for examination to determine whether it was used in the incident. Further action will be determined based on forensic analysis and technical evidence.
However, the police have not yet succeeded in arresting any of the accused; all of them are reportedly absconding. Police teams are conducting continuous raids and searches in the surrounding areas. Local police are also attempting to trace the suspects' locations and contacts to facilitate a speedy arrest.
According to the police, the deceased, Rajesh Yadav, had an extensive criminal record. More than half a dozen cases—including charges under the Arms Act and attempted murder—were registered against him in the Bihiya, Jagdishpur, and Barhara police station areas. He had reportedly been released on bail from jail only about two months prior. Consequently, the police are investigating whether the murder stemmed from an old case, a long-standing feud, an act of revenge, or a criminal confrontation. Nevertheless, the family claims they are also unaware of the specific motive behind the incident. A tragedy of immense proportions has befallen Rajesh Yadav's family following the incident. He was reportedly the eldest among two brothers and a sister. His family includes his mother, Phuljharo Devi; his wife, Seema Devi; and a young son, Aarush. Chaos and grief engulfed the household the moment news of his death arrived. His mother, Phuljharo Devi, is inconsolable, and his wife, Seema Devi, is in a state of shock. Other family members and relatives are also plunged into deep sorrow. Villagers are visiting the home to offer condolences, but the atmosphere remains incredibly somber.
This brazen daylight shooting has sent shockwaves through the village and surrounding areas. Many locals reported being startled by the sudden sound of gunfire in broad daylight on Sunday, initially unable to comprehend what was happening. News soon spread that a young man had been surrounded and shot.
The police are currently investigating every aspect of the case. They are trying to determine the direction in which the accused fled and whether the victim had been under surveillance prior to the incident. Investigators are also examining how the ambush was orchestrated along the route the victim was taking and how the assailants obtained information about his movements. The true motive behind the murder and the full details of the conspiracy will only be revealed following further police investigation, the verification of the recovered weapon, and the arrest of the absconding accused.
