PATNA METRO RAIL PROJECT ACHIEVED ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT MILESTONE

PATNA-------------------------Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM)-2 (DZ1091), operated by Larsen & Toubro (L&T), successfully achieved a breakthrough at the PMCH station under Package PC-03. This machine, which was launched from Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, is progressing towards Patna Junction, passing through key stations like Patna University, Gandhi Maidan, and Akashwani.

This marks the sixth tunnel breakthrough in the 8-kilometer underground section of the 14.05-kilometer-long Line-2 (Patna Junction to New ISBT). The 6.65-meter diameter Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) machine completed the construction of the 1068-meter-long up-line tunnel from Patna University to PMCH in just 12 months. This was the machine's second major task, having previously constructed a 1494-meter tunnel from Moin-ul-Haq to Patna University.

Under this project, awarded to L&T by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in December 2021, six underground stations are being developed from Rajendra Nagar to Patna Junction. These include Rajendra Nagar, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Patna University, PMCH, Gandhi Maidan, and Akashwani. So far, six out of ten breakthroughs for the PC-03 package have been completed, accelerating the project's progress.

This achievement is a major step towards providing the people of Patna with a safe, affordable, and environmentally friendly mode of transportation. The completion of Phase-1 of the metro project is expected to bring about a revolutionary change in the city's transportation system.
