ARA------------------------------Bihar's education system has been facing challenges for years. On the one hand, the government is trying to improve the condition of government schools by making new schemes, on the other hand, there are some teachers whose priority is now not teaching children but doing politics. This trend is not only affecting the quality of education, but is also pushing the future of poor and middle class families into darkness.

Attraction to politics and decline of teacher's duty: The teacher has been called the creator of the society. He not only gives literacy to the children, but also lays the foundation for making them a good citizen. But in recent years it has been seen that some teachers are so entangled in political debates, party propaganda and sarcasm on social media that they are no longer concerned about those innocent eyes sitting in the classroom who are waiting for a ray of knowledge.

These teachers do not reach schools on time, are careless in teaching and keep looking for excuses for holidays. When social media walls are filled with political posts of a teacher and children's notebooks are empty, the question arises - are such teachers shaping the future of society or are they pushing it into the abyss?

Who suffers the most? The most affected are the poor and rural children, who do not have the option of private schools. Whose parents are engaged in farming and labour and have pinned their hopes on that one teacher in the school. When that teacher turns away from his duties, what is it if not injustice to them?

It is not wrong to do politics, it is important to set priorities: It should be made clear that any citizen has the right to have political views and freedom of expression. But when you are a teacher, your first and foremost responsibility is to educate children. Politics is fine only as long as it does not come in the way of your duty. Otherwise it is a betrayal of the profession.

Government monitoring and accountability - The education department needs to keep an eye on such teachers who are negligent in teaching by indulging in political activities.

Society should become aware and question such teachers. Parents should pay attention to the condition of schools and lodge complaints if needed.

Every teacher should ask himself this question – Am I doing justice to my profession? Is my politics bigger than the education of children?

To change Bihar, first of all the education of Bihar has to be changed. And education will change only when teachers are loyal to their religion. If they leave the temptation of politics and start shaping the future of children, then no one can stop Bihar from becoming the land of knowledge once again.
