BHABHUA---------------------Criminals in the district have become so emboldened that even people near the police station are not safe. On Tuesday afternoon, in Ward No. 12 of the Mohania police station area, a 28-year-old man, Salim Ali, was brutally beaten to death just 100 meters from the police station.
Enraged by this daylight murder, people blocked the Delhi-Kolkata Highway (GT Road) and raised slogans against the police administration. The deceased was the son of Khurshid Gaddi. After the incident, the accused fled the scene. The angry family members and local residents refused to allow the body to be removed and insisted on the immediate arrest of the culprits. Ward member Yahya Khan, who arrived at the spot, termed it "jungle raj" (lawlessness). He said, "If murders happen in broad daylight, where will the common man go? We will not rest until the arrests are made." DSP Pradeep Kumar and police from three police stations arrived at the scene and, after much effort, managed to pacify the crowd. The DSP said that a blood-stained bamboo stick and broken earthen/cement pots were found at the crime scene, which have been seized as evidence. CCTV footage is being examined, and raids are underway to arrest the named accused.
