Bihar politics is in full swing these days regarding the voter list. Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav has finally released a video message giving direct instructions to his workers. Tejashwi has clearly said that the name of any voter should not be missing from the voter list, it is the responsibility of all of you. The Supreme Court has given a clear order to the Election Commission that now Aadhar card will also be considered a valid document in filing objections and claims. This is being considered a big relief for the opposition. But the reality is that till 10 am on Monday, only 10 claims and objections were received from political parties, that too only from CPI-ML.
Tejashwi is currently on a voter rights tour, where he is accompanied by many big faces of the grand alliance like Congress' Rahul Gandhi, CPI-ML general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya and VIP leader Mukesh Sahni. But the recent comment of the Supreme Court has further increased the concern of the opposition. The court had asked in a sharp tone - "What are more than 1.60 lakh booth level agents doing? It is their responsibility to help the voters." In this background, Tejashwi gave an ultimatum to the workers and said that the deleted names should be added at all costs and registration of new voters should be ensured. He alleged that "The Election Commission is constantly bent on dishonesty, in such a situation, it is our first responsibility to protect democracy and the Constitution." Election Commission figures show that BJP has appointed 53,338, RJD 47,506, JDU 36,550 and Congress 17,549 booth level agents. Despite this, the activity of opposition parties is negligible. So far, the commission has received direct objections and claims from 1,40,931 voters, while 3,79,692 new voters have applied to get their names added.
Tejashwi has clearly told his workers, “Wherever the yatra has been completed, correct the errors in the voter list with all your might. Wherever the yatra is going on, take out a day to help people get their names added. The names of poor and new voters should not be left out.”
