Three Decades Later, Court Pushes Darbhanga Administration Into Action

Darbhanga (RNI) A Darbhanga court has issued a stern directive to the district administration and the Darbhanga Municipal Corporation, urging them to immediately enforce a 29-year-old order that has remained pending since 1996.

The case, originally filed by Ravindra Narayan Choudhary against the Government of Bihar, pertains to the removal of municipal corporation shops from his residential property — listed under Hoarding No. 40/1112 in Lakshmipur near Laheriasarai Station Road — to create a 35×42-foot access road.

Despite a clear court ruling in 1996, authorities never implemented the order. Ravindra Choudhary continued pursuing compliance throughout his lifetime, but passed away without seeing progress. His son, Supreme Court lawyer Keshav Choudhary, has since taken up the matter, prompting renewed judicial scrutiny.

Choudhary expressed shock that, rather than enforcing the decades-old directive, new constructions are now reportedly being carried out at the disputed site. He stated that if the order remains unimplemented, even exiting his own home may soon become extremely difficult.
