PATNA-----------------------------Just after the inauguration of the 8.15 km long Auntha-Simaria bridge by PM Modi, Tejashwi Yadav has expressed the possibility of this bridge collapsing as well.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday inaugurated the six lane bridge on the Ganga river between Auntha of Mokama in Patna and Simaria in Begusarai. PM Modi also looked surprised to see the attractive design and construction of this bridge made with Extra Dose Stay Cable Bridge technology. At the same time, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has given an advance warning regarding the construction quality. Tejashwi has taken a jibe by pointing to the incidents of collapse of many built and under-construction bridges in Bihar in recent years.
He said, 'In the public interest, I appeal to Prime Minister Modi Ji to not only cut the ribbon of the bridge four times but also get a big statutory warning board installed on both sides of the bridge on which it should be written in big letters that "Every person should use this bridge at his own risk because our NDA government has a world record of bridge collapse and every child in Bihar knows how much corruption of billions of crores takes place in bridge construction in our government. In such a situation, tomorrow this bridge can also collapse, please cross the bridge at your own risk'. The 8.15 km long Auntha-Simaria bridge includes a 1.86 km long six lane constructed at a cost of more than Rs 1,870 crore on the river Ganga. This bridge will provide direct connectivity between Mokama and Begusarai in Patna. There are other six lane bridges in the country, but Bihar's 6 lane Simaria bridge (Aunta-Simaria Ganga Bridge) is the widest six lane bridge in the country. This bridge is 34 meters wide, which is about 4.5 meters wider than the six lane bridges (29.5 meters) built normally. The six-lane bridge is 100 km higher. The six-lane bridge has been built parallel to the existing two-lane rail-cum-road bridge 'Rajendra Setu'.
This bridge, connecting Mokama in Patna and Simaria in Begusarai, is built using extra dosage stay cable bridge technology, in which the entire weight of the bridge is on the cable. As soon as traffic starts on the bridge, the distance between North and South Bihar will be reduced by 100 km. Along with this, the distance of traffic from West Bengal, Jharkhand and Assam will also be reduced and movement will become easier. This new bridge will reduce the distance of about 100 km for vehicles traveling between North Bihar (Begusarai, Supaul, Madhubani, Purnia, Araria etc.) and areas of South Bihar (Sheikhpura, Nawada, Lakhisarai etc.).
