In this sequence, today, an important seminar on "Tobacco Prohibition and Side Effects of Tobacco" was organized in GNM Bhawan located at ANM School, Sadar Hospital Bhojpur.

ARA-------------------------Bhojpur (Representative): On the occasion of the upcoming World No Tobacco Day (31 May), a 15-day public awareness campaign has been started under the aegis of District Tobacco Control Cell, Bhojpur. In this sequence, today, an important seminar on "Tobacco Prohibition and Side Effects of Tobacco" was organized in GNM Bhawan located at ANM School, Sadar Hospital Bhojpur.
The seminar was chaired by Dr. Praveen Kumar Sinha, Nodal Officer, District Tobacco Control Cell, Bhojpur. Also Dr. Suhani Bhardwaj, DTO, Homi Bhabha Cancer Institute, was present. Both the experts discussed in detail the terrible side effects of tobacco consumption and also suggested effective measures to avoid it.
Dr. Praveen Kumar Sinha said that tobacco consumption not only causes fatal diseases like cancer, but it also causes serious damage to the heart, lungs, kidneys and brain. He also said that the increasing tobacco addiction among the youth is becoming a big challenge for the society, which is very important to stop.
At the same time, Dr. Suhani Bhardwaj said that an alarming increase in cases of tobacco-related cancer is being seen in Homi Bhabha Cancer Institute. He said that public awareness is the most effective weapon to deal with this epidemic. He told the students and health workers present that various medical services, counseling and nicotine replacement therapy are also available to quit tobacco, by taking advantage of which people can adopt a healthy life.
A large number of trainee students, nursing staff, health workers and common citizens were present in the seminar. At the end of the program, the participants took an oath to make their active contribution in building a "tobacco free society".
In the upcoming programs under the campaign, street plays, signature campaigns, painting competitions and health camps are also proposed to be organized in various schools, colleges and public places. This initiative of the District Tobacco Control Cell is a meaningful effort towards a healthy and tobacco-free society through public awareness.
