The workers at the waste processing unit in Rampur village of the block, operating under the Lohia Sanitation Campaign, have accomplished something remarkable, which is now being discussed throughout the entire region. By collecting the waste considered useless from the village, the workers have prepared high-quality organic fertilizer in just three months. This initiative is not only a major achievement in the direction of cleanliness but has also emerged as a strong example of promoting organic farming. To test the quality of this organic fertilizer prepared in the NADEP method by the workers, DRP Tribhuvan Singh used it in an experiment. He planted an onion crop using the prepared fertilizer, which matured in just 15 days.

The remarkable thing was that no chemical fertilizers or pesticides were used in this entire process. Despite this, the quality of the crop was found to be far superior to the onions available in the market. The DRP said that the onions grown with this organic fertilizer are excellent in terms of taste, size, and nutritional value. He said that while the continuous use of chemical fertilizers is affecting soil fertility, this organic fertilizer prepared in Rampur will prove effective in improving soil health. This is not only beneficial for farmers but also safe and beneficial for the health of the general public.

He informed that the manure, vegetable peels, wet waste from homes, and food waste from school mid-day meals and rotten fruits from the village were used to prepare this fertilizer. Usually, this waste is thrown here and there, causing pollution. But the workers of the Lohia Sanitation Campaign have set an example by transforming it into a valuable resource. Following this achievement, farmers in the region also appear enthusiastic. The DRP (District Rural Development Agency) said that if any farmer needs this organic fertilizer, they can contact the waste processing unit located in Rampur directly.

Plans are also being made to produce it on a large scale and make it available to farmers in the future. Villagers say that this initiative in Rampur is simultaneously fulfilling the objectives of both the Swachh Bharat Mission and organic farming. By making compost from waste, not only is the village being kept clean, but a concrete step has also been taken towards increasing farmers' income and providing people with chemical-free food. The waste processing unit in Rampur has become an inspiration for the entire block. The DRP said that if this initiative is implemented in every panchayat, revolutionary changes are possible in the areas of cleanliness, health, and agriculture.
