ARA--------------------------The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, led the Voter Rights Yatra in Bhojpur, Bihar, on Saturday, igniting a wave of enthusiasm among Mahagathbandhan workers and supporters. The Yatra, which culminated in a massive public meeting at Veer Kunwar Singh Stadium in Ara, saw a vibrant turnout, with supporters lining the roads, showering flowers, and cheering as Rahul Gandhi greeted them from an open jeep, stopping at multiple points to interact with workers and students.
Addressing the charged gathering, Rahul Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating vote theft to secure electoral victories, asserting that the Election Commission has been reduced to a "Jugaad Commission" manipulated for BJP's benefit. "The people of Bihar are awake and aware. They will not allow vote theft this time. Every revolution in this country has started from Bihar, and now, a revolution against vote theft has begun," he declared, rallying the crowd to protect their constitutional rights. He further emphasized that the ongoing conspiracy to steal votes is not just an attack on ballots but on the fundamental rights of citizens, citing alleged manipulations in elections in Haryana, Maharashtra, and the Lok Sabha. Gandhi urged the youth of Bihar to remain vigilant, assuring them that their voices would be heard across the nation.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, also addressing the gathering, echoed Gandhi’s sentiments, accusing the BJP of consistently violating people's rights and exploiting the Election Commission for political gains. "The people of Bihar have awakened, and in the upcoming assembly elections, they will show the BJP the way out," he said, highlighting the palpable enthusiasm for the Voter Rights Yatra.
Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief and former minister Mukesh Sahni predicted a transformative shift in Bihar’s political landscape. "The BJP has always exploited the people, but now, the people of Bihar demand change, and change will happen at any cost," he asserted. CPI(ML) National General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya added that the BJP’s policies, from demonetization to attempts to suppress voting rights, have harassed the public. "The country is moving toward change, and the elimination of BJP’s dominance is certain," he said.
Tejashwi Yadav, another prominent Mahagathbandhan leader, took a swipe at the BJP-led government, saying, "I talk about schemes, and the government follows behind. They trail us, copying our vision." The leaders collectively framed the Yatra as a movement to safeguard democracy and amplify the voices of the poor and marginalized, accusing the BJP, RSS, and corporate giants like Adani and Ambani of running the central government for their own interests.
The rally saw enthusiastic participation, with supporters chanting slogans against vote theft and pledging to protect their democratic rights. Rahul Gandhi’s call to action resonated deeply, as he emphasized Bihar’s historical role in sparking revolutions and its potential to lead the fight against electoral malpractices. The Yatra has set the stage for a charged political battle in Bihar, with the Mahagathbandhan rallying the public to ensure their votes and rights are not compromised in the upcoming elections.
