DELHI-----------------------------On Monday evening, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar resigned. He announced his resignation citing health reasons. Now President Draupadi Murmu has accepted his resignation and sent it to the Home Ministry for further action. 74-year-old Dhankar was holding the post of Vice President since 2022.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement has also come on Jagdeep Dhankar's resignation. Modi posted on his social media account X and wrote that "Jagdeep Dhankar ji has had the opportunity to serve the country in many roles including the Vice President of India. I wish him good health."

His resignation on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament is quite surprising. During the day, he was present in the Rajya Sabha, where there was a heated debate between Leader of the House JP Nadda and Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge over Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack. During this, the Vice President was heard saying that he will ensure that all aspects of the issue are discussed.

Later he called a meeting of the opposition and the ruling party, in which it is being said that the MPs of the ruling party did not attend. After this, late in the evening, Jagdeep Dhankhar announced his resignation, due to which a round of speculation continues.
