BHABHUA---------------------------Farmers are facing significant difficulties in selling their harvested paddy. Government procurement centers remain open, forcing middlemen and small farmers to sell their paddy at throwaway prices, either on credit or at reduced rates. Farmers are also facing difficulties due to the lack of DAP fertilizer for sowing their harvested paddy fields. Even if DAP fertilizer is available, it is often at a higher price, with no guarantee. The market is currently flooded with counterfeit fertilizers. Even the fertilizers available at vendors' shops are unguided. Many farmers complain that the fertilizers provided at sowing time are ineffective. Consequently, the helpless and destitute farmers are forced to live a life of humiliation due to the double whammy of fertilizer black marketing. Now it remains to be seen when the newly formed government will start working on this or will it leave the farmers to their fate.
