PATNA-------------------------Amidst the ongoing controversy with star Pawan Singh, his wife, Jyoti Singh, has announced her entry into politics. She has decided to contest the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections as an independent candidate from the Karakat seat. There had long been speculation about her joining Jan Suraj and the RJD, but now she has clarified that she will campaign as an independent candidate, not as a party member.

A few months ago, Jyoti Singh met with Jan Suraj chief Prashant Kishore (PK). There was speculation that she might contest the elections on a Jan Suraj ticket. However, according to sources, the talks did not progress further. Jyoti Singh herself subsequently clarified that she would contest the elections as an independent candidate. Jyoti also stated that she had contacted RJD leaders, but nothing concrete could be reached. Ultimately, she decided to campaign without a party banner.

Jyoti Singh has been conducting a continuous public relations campaign for the past few months. In August 2025, she began campaigning in the Karakat, Nabinagar, and Dehri areas. She went door-to-door in rural areas, interacting with people and listening to local issues. The Karakat region is considered a Rajput-dominated area, and political analysts say Jyoti Singh is moving forward with this social equation in mind.

After meeting Prashant Kishore, Jyoti Singh stated that she had come to her brother seeking justice. Referring to her dispute with her husband Pawan Singh, she said she did not want what happened to her to happen to any other woman. Prashant Kishore clarified that his meeting with Jyoti Singh was not political. He said that he would help Jyoti Singh if she was threatened or pressured in any way.
