ARA----------------------------The incomplete work on the Ganga embankment from Koilwar to Buxar will be completed. Concrete government initiatives have begun to clean the silt deposited in the Ganga River from Buxar to the Farakka Dam.
This initiative began when Kunwar Sena President Surendra Singh and General Secretary Tribhuvan Singh sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 18, 2025, requesting concrete steps to address the increasing erosion and flooding of the Ganga River.
Relying on Kunwar Sena's application, Manoj Kumar, Senior Joint Commissioner of the Ministry of Water Resources (Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Conservation), Government of India, has sent a letter to the Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department of the Government of Bihar, directing him to take appropriate action. It has also been stated that Kunwar Sena should be informed of the action taken.
Surendra Singh, president of Kunwar Sena, stated that every year, thousands of acres of land and several villages are submerged in the Ganga River due to erosion, causing losses worth crores of rupees to farmers. He stated that if the incomplete dam construction from Koilwar to Buxar is completed and the Ganga is cleaned of silt from Buxar to Farakka, the river's flow will return to normal and the erosion problem will be largely eliminated.
Surendra Singh explained that, on the instructions of Kunwar Sena, a team from the Veer Kunwar Singh Memorial Service and Research Institute conducted a survey from Buxar to Bhagalpur, which found that silt deposited in the Ganga and incomplete embankment work are the main causes of the problem.
He stated that the Government of India has now taken positive action on this public interest issue raised by Kunwar Sena. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this, he said, "This is a very meaningful initiative for the people of Bihar, especially Bhojpur, Buxar, and the surrounding districts, which will provide relief to millions of farmers and flood-affected families."
