The Prohibition and Excise Department has achieved a major success. The department's team has recovered a huge amount of foreign liquor from a secret basement built in the cabin of a ten-wheeler truck. This action was taken near Daulatpur Overbridge of Mufassil police station area on Patna-Buxar four lane, where on the basis of secret information, the Excise Department team caught this consignment during vehicle checking.
The arrested smuggler has been identified as Manish Kumar Yadav (son of Ram Ishwar Yadav), resident of Shankar Nagar village located in Bairia police station area of Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. A ten-wheeled truck bearing the number BR04GB–6584 has been recovered from him, in which the liquor was being smuggled hidden in a cleverly constructed basement above the cabin.
The seized liquor includes 2064 pieces of Officer's preference Whisky a hundred and eighty ML, 96 pieces of Blender's delight Whisky 750 ML, 72 pieces of Kingfisher Max amazing sturdy Beer 500 ML, and 12 pieces of Mount's 6000 Vodka 750 ML. A total of 2268 bottles i.e. about 500.520 liters of liquor have been seized, the market value of which is estimated to be around Rs 7 lakh.
The team formed under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner Rajneesh and Inspector Rahul Kumar Dubey of Bhojpur district carried out this action. It was told that the liquor was loaded from Ballia and was being taken to Chapra. During interrogation, the smuggler has so far refrained from giving any information about the entire racket, although officials say that investigation has been intensified to identify and arrest other people involved.
The excise department team included Assistant Sub Inspector Ravindra Kumar Yadav, Ravi Kumar, prohibition constable, home guard and SAP jawans. Action is being taken to send the arrested smuggler to judicial custody. This action has emerged as another important example of strict monitoring on smuggling under the liquor prohibition law.
