BHABHUA--------------------------Belaon Police Station in-charge Paramhans Kumar, while addressing girls at Shri Nehru Plus Two High School, Nauhatta, reiterated the police's commitment to not compromise on women's safety and stated that work in this direction has already begun. The Abhaya Brigade initiative has been launched at the police station level. This brigade will be responsible for the safety of women and girls.

In view of the increasing incidents of harassment, the police headquarters has taken notice. To curb and take action against such incidents, the Abhaya Brigade has been formed at the police station level. Recently, the police headquarters had written to all the SSPs and SPs of the districts informing them about this.

It is worth noting that in light of this, this initiative is being implemented in all police stations of the district. One Abhaya Brigade has been deployed at each police station. It consists of one female sub-inspector, one female constable, and two male constables.

These teams have been deployed around colleges, schools, coaching centers, religious places, and public places. They have also been deployed in all the hotspots of harassment.

The teams are constantly patrolling and monitoring these areas. In this regard, hotspots of harassment are being identified in the district. Senior police officers have asked the station house officers for a list of such places. The process of forming the Abhaya Brigade will be completed accordingly.

It has been reported that most incidents of harassment occur with schoolgirls. Recently, schoolgirls have also filed an FIR at the city police station regarding this. A man on a motorcycle has been named as the accused.

They told the police that when they return from school or coaching classes, the accused follows them on a motorcycle and harasses them. He even tries to snatch their scarves. They are frightened, scared, and under mental stress because of this incident. Several such cases are continuously coming to light, and the Abhaya Brigade has been formed to deal with them. Furthermore, it should be noted that some hotspots have already been identified in urban areas where several incidents of harassment have occurred in the past. These include coaching centers, colleges, private and government schools, religious places, and other public spaces.

The Kaimur police say that working towards women's safety at both the city and village levels is likely to increase women's sense of security. This will enable women to pursue their studies and work more effectively and prepare themselves for self-employment.
