BUXAR--------------------------Newly elected JDU MLA Rahul Singh of Dumraon has launched a campaign to curb corruption and irregularities in development works immediately after taking oath. In a meeting with officials at the Municipal Council hall on Tuesday, the MLA expressed strong displeasure over the poor sanitation system, the dilapidated condition of NH-120, table tenders, and other basic problems of the city. The MLA's tough stance has created a stir among those involved in corruption.
The MLA expressed deep anger over the deplorable sanitation system in the city, stating that the allocation for the sanitation NGO increased from Rs. 11 lakh in 2016 to Rs. 96 lakh in 2025, but the quality of sanitation has only worsened. He alleged that the same people have been handling the sanitation work under the guise of an NGO for the past ten years and are violating NGT rules by dumping garbage in the open along the banks of the Kav river and canal.
The MLA also took a strong stand against the practice of awarding table tenders instead of open tenders in the Municipal Council for years. He said—
“Table tenders worth Rs. 15 lakh each have been awarded to benefit certain individuals.” The MLA instructed the Executive Officer to provide a list of all table tenders.
He found that the road from ‘Naya Thana to Shakti Dwar’ was being constructed from the front but was crumbling from the back.
Senior officials have been instructed to investigate and cancel the tender. The MLA expressed displeasure after witnessing the lack of drinking water facilities, a broken motor, clogged drains, and the absence of toilets in the Mahadalit बस्ती (colony) located on Safakhana Road.
He said, “Due to the negligence of the Municipal Council, the Mahadalit families have been deprived of basic civic amenities. This is shameful.” He immediately ordered the restoration of the water supply, cleaning of the drains, and the construction of public toilets.
The MLA also inspected the poor condition of NH-120. Officials informed him that the road was repeatedly getting damaged due to the lack of proper drainage. A culvert could not be constructed at the Agriculture College intersection due to protests from the villagers. The administration is now prioritizing this.
Additionally, a tender worth ₹1.3 crore has been issued for the repair of the 5.2 km road from Dumrejani Temple to Purana Bhojpur four-lane road. SDO Rakesh Kumar informed that the repair work on NH-120 will begin on December 11, and the route for heavy vehicles will be diverted.
Several officials, including SDO Rakesh Kumar, DSP Polast Kumar, BDO Sandeep Kumar Pandey, Municipal Council Executive Officer Rahul Dhar Dubey, and Circle Officer Kumar Dinesh, were present at the meeting. The MLA's proactive approach has put pressure on the long-standing corrupt system in Dumraon, and the city residents have expressed hope that this will give a new impetus to development.
