PATNA------------------------In an event organized by Rabindra Parishad, Patna, the artists of Kala Jagran gave an impressive presentation of the play Binodini, based on the central character of Rabindranath Tagore's famous work Chokher Bali, at Rabindra Bhawan. The script of Binodini was prepared by Vivek Kumar while it was conceived and directed by Bihar's senior theatre director Suman Kumar. Preeti Kumari, Kumar Saurabh, Vivek Kumar, Mahima and Prince Raj displayed their talent by acting very strongly on stage in the play. Binodini's marriage proposal first goes to Mahendra of an aristocratic family, which is rejected by Mahendra. Mahendra asks his friend Bihari to marry Binodini, but Bihari also refuses. Mahendra marries Asha Lata. The rejection from the marriage hurts Binodini's heart! Mahendra's mother Rajlaxmi wanted Binodini as her daughter-in-law but Binodini is married off to someone else. Unfortunately, Binodini becomes a widow due to her husband's untimely death. Being Rajlaxmi's favourite, she comes to Rajlaxmi's house where she develops an intimate relationship with Mahendra and Bihari in parallel. This complex relationship between Mahendra, Bihari and Binodini eventually creates a feeling of guilt in the minds of all three. Binodini isolates herself and goes away from everyone forever. Binodini comes with a feeling of vengeance but leaves with guilt and atonement! On stage
