ARA-----------------------------A shocking incident that has shaken humanity and shamed society has come to light from Bhojpur district of Bihar. A woman, angered by her son and daughter-in-law's love marriage, crossed all limits of cruelty and sold her newborn grandson for 50,000 rupees. This heartbreaking incident took place on December 7th outside the Agiaon Primary Health Center in the Garhani police station area, where the daughter-in-law had given birth to the child.
According to reports, the conspiracy to sell the newborn was hatched immediately after the child's birth. It is alleged that Krinta Devi, wife of Pankaj Rawani of Narayanpur village in the Narayanpur police station area, took this heinous step out of anger over her son Chitranjan Kumar and daughter-in-law Khushboo Kumari's love marriage. With the help of a woman from the same village, the deal to sell the newborn was finalized with a rural doctor from Rohtas district for 50,000 rupees.
Based on the statement of the victim, Khushboo Kumari, an FIR was registered at the Garhani police station on December 16th. Acting swiftly on the FIR, the police arrested four people, including the main accused, Krinta Devi. The arrested individuals include Kavita Sharma, wife of Mahendra Sharma of Narayanpur village, her relative Chandni Sharma of Arrah, and Preeti Kumari of Rohtas district. The police also recovered approximately 49,000 rupees from Krinta Devi, related to the sale of the newborn.
However, the most tragic aspect of this entire case is that the newborn child has not yet been recovered. The doctor who bought the child, Dilip alias Harishankar Pandit, a resident of Hunkadih village under Dinara police station in Rohtas district, is still at large. The police are continuously raiding his suspected hideouts, but he has not yet been arrested.
During police interrogation, the arrested accused have confessed to their crime. During questioning, Chandni Sharma revealed that Kavita Sharma is her relative and that it was at Kavita's behest that she contacted Dr. Dilip, who runs a clinic in Dinara, Rohtas, and his associate Preeti Kumari, regarding the newborn. Later, a deal was struck to sell the baby for 50,000 rupees, and the newborn was handed over to the doctor.
Gadhani police station in-charge Kamaljeet stated that during the investigation, it came to light that Chitranjan Kumar and Khushboo Kumari are cousins. They had a love marriage against their families' wishes, which angered Chitranjan's mother, Krinta Devi. To separate her son and daughter-in-law and to take revenge for the marriage, she hatched a plot to sell her daughter-in-law's newborn son. Kavita Sharma from the village, Chandni Sharma from Ara, and Preeti Kumari from Rohtas assisted in this conspiracy.
The mother-in-law's cruelty did not stop after selling the newborn. It is alleged that Krinta Devi confined her daughter-in-law, Khushboo Kumari, to the house and forbade her from leaving. Khushboo was kept locked up for about five days. Somehow, on December 13th, Khushboo managed to escape and reached Ara. There, with the help of her relative Sanju Devi, she tried to contact the police.
Later, Khushboo Kumari reached the SP's office through Poonam Devi, who works at the court. Following the SP's intervention, a complaint was registered at the Narayanpur police station, after which the police summoned the mother-in-law Krinta Devi and Kavita Sharma for questioning. During questioning, the entire truth about the sale of the newborn came to light, after which an FIR was registered at the Gadhani police station and the accused were arrested.
Based on Chandni Sharma's information, the police also raided Dr. Dilip's clinic in Dinara, Rohtas district, where his associate Preeti Kumari was arrested. However, neither the newborn nor Dr. Dilip could be found during the raid.
It is reported that Khushboo Kumari and Chitranjan Kumar previously lived in Punjab. A romantic relationship developed between the two, and after a three-month courtship, they got married in January of this year. They then moved into a rented house in Hajipur. They had returned to their village, Narayanpur, for the Chhath festival, where this horrific incident occurred.
Currently, the police are conducting continuous raids to recover the newborn and arrest the absconding doctor. This case raises serious questions not only about law and order but also about social values. The police say that the child will be safely recovered soon and all the culprits will be given strict punishment according to the law.
