The latest incident occurred near a culvert near Rupapatti village, under the Chainpur police station jurisdiction. A laborer tragically died in a head-on collision between a speeding pickup and a motorcycle on Saturday morning. The incident sparked widespread outrage among locals, and the family demanded compensation from the government and district administration. The deceased has been identified as Radheshyam Ram, 52, son of Dhanraj Ram, a resident of Gangodih village, under the Chainpur police station jurisdiction. He was reportedly traveling to Chainpur by bike as usual, where he worked as a laborer unloading cement from trucks.
It is known that a speeding pickup truck coming from the opposite direction collided with the motorcycle near Rupapatti village. Radheshyam Ram was seriously injured in the accident and fell unconscious on the road. Locals attempted to stop the pickup, but the driver fled with the vehicle. Upon receiving information about the incident, family members rushed to the scene and rushed the injured to the Chainpur Community Health Center, where doctors administered first aid and then referred him to Sadar Hospital, Bhabua, for better treatment. Rajiv Ranjan, the deceased's brother-in-law, who arrived at Bhabua Sadar Hospital, stated that Radheshyam was the family's sole breadwinner. His three children live outside working as laborers. They were a very poor family, and Radheshyam's income was the sole source of support. Therefore, they are demanding appropriate compensation from the district administration and the government. Dr. Sahil Raj, a physician at Bhabua Sadar Hospital, stated that the patient was brought in in a very critical condition. He stated that he had been hit by a pickup and suffered multiple serious injuries. He died during treatment. Upon receiving information, police from the Chainpur police station arrived at the scene and inspected the scene. After taking custody of the body and preparing a Panchnama, the body was sent to Sadar Hospital, Bhabua, for an autopsy. The police have started searching for the absconding pickup driver. The relatives have demanded government ex-gratia grant and compensation considering the financial condition of the deceased's family. People are terrified due to the frequent accidents caused by high speed and the local people are demanding strict measures for road safety.
