ARA---------------------------Friday became a historic day in Bihar's politics and society. Prime Minister Narendra Modi (virtually) and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar jointly presented a significant gift to 7.5 million women in the state under the Chief Minister's Women's Employment Scheme. Under this scheme, an amount of ₹10,000 was directly transferred to each woman's bank account. The total financial assistance of ₹7,500 crore has helped transform women's lives.
During this event, a very special moment captured everyone's attention. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke directly with Rita Devi, a Jeevika Didi from Mohammadpur village in Bhojpur district, via video conferencing. Modi heard her story of joining the Jeevika group and becoming self-reliant.
Rita Devi told the Prime Minister that in 2015, she had joined the Jeevika group and taken a loan of just ₹5,000. With this small amount, she started poultry farming and then gradually built an egg selling business. Hard work and struggle transformed her life, and today she has earned the name "Lakhpati Didi." During the conversation, Rita Devi became emotional and said, "I never even dreamed that I would get the opportunity to speak directly with the Prime Minister. This is a huge achievement in my life. Talking to Modi ji has further boosted my confidence." She further said that she will use the money given by the government to expand her business so that other women can get employment.
Rita Devi's story not only impressed Prime Minister Modi but also inspired millions of people associated with the program. Modi congratulated her and said that the women of the Jeevika group are presenting a strong picture of a self-reliant India. During the program, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also said that the economic empowerment of women is the key to the development of both society and the state. He expressed confidence that through such schemes, women will not only strengthen their families but will also create employment opportunities locally.
Meanwhile, other Jeevika Didis present at the event also expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister. They said that this support will boost their small businesses and enable them to realize their dreams. On this occasion, District In-Charge and Panchayati Raj Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta said that empowering women economically is a top priority for the government. This joint initiative by the Prime Minister and Chief Minister will bring positive change to the lives of millions of families.
