UPSC TO BEGIN CENTENARY YEAR CELEBRATIONS FROM OCTOBER 1

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), a constitutional body, will organize a series of year-long events and activities to mark the completion of 100 years of its establishment. The Centenary Year Celebrations will commence from 1st October 2025 and will continue till 1st October 2026. The decision in this regard was taken in the recent meeting of the Commission chaired by Shri Ajay Kumar, Chairman, UPSC.

DELHI------------------------The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), a constitutional body, will organize a series of year-long events and activities to mark the completion of 100 years of its establishment. The Centenary Year Celebrations will commence from 1st October 2025 and will continue till 1st October 2026. The decision in this regard was taken in the recent meeting of the Commission chaired by Shri Ajay Kumar, Chairman, UPSC.

The Public Service Commission in India was established on 1st October 1926 following the provisions of the Government of India Act, 1919 and the recommendations of the Lee Commission (1924). It was later renamed as the Federal Public Service Commission (1937) and was renamed as the Union Public Service Commission with the adoption of the Constitution of India on 26th January 1950.

UPSC Chairman Shri Ajay Kumar said Said, “Since its inception, UPSC has been a symbol of transparency, impartiality and meritocracy that ensures selection of the most deserving candidates for senior level positions in government services through a rigorous and unbiased process.”

As a part of the celebrations, UPSC is planning to release a logo and a tagline to symbolise the Commission’s service to the nation. Various new initiatives and reforms are also planned to be launched during the centenary year.

Discussing the preparations for the celebrations, Shri Ajay Kumar said, “While preparing the list of programmes, we have also sought suggestions and inputs from our employees. Our endeavour is to make them an integral part of the centenary year celebrations. In the process, we have received some valuable suggestions which can be acted upon.”

Ajay Kumar said, “The centenary year celebrations will provide us an opportunity to look back proudly on our heritage, introspect for improvements and make the country proud by utilising the best human resources in the process of nation building. This is also an opportunity to chart a blueprint for the glorious future of UPSC for the next 100 years.”
