ARA------------------------A sensational case of impersonating police officers and extorting money from people has come to light in Ara city of Bhojpur district, Bihar. The Nagar Police Station, acting swiftly, arrested two accused who were posing as police sub-inspectors and their colleagues, and forcibly extorting money from a young man. The two arrested accused are reportedly residents of Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place on Sunday evening near Musahar Toli, Amiri Gali in the Dharhara locality under the Nagar Police Station area. In this case, Chandan Yadav, son of Vijay Yadav, a resident of Shri Tola in the Nawada police station area, has filed a written complaint and registered an FIR at the Nagar police station.

According to the victim, Chandan Yadav, on the evening of December 14, at around 5:30 PM, he had gone to meet a friend near Dharhara Musahar Toli, Amiri Gali. At that time, two unknown persons arrived and, identifying themselves as police sub-inspectors from the Ara Nagar Police Station, apprehended him. During questioning, the accused told him that he was loitering there with the intention of drinking or supplying alcohol. When Chandan Yadav explained that he had only come to meet his friend, the two accused started threatening him.

According to the victim, the accused said that if he did not give them money, he would be framed in a liquor case. During this time, one of the accused, referring to the other as a sub-inspector, said, "This is our Sub-Inspector, quickly give us whatever money you have and run away from here." Under threat and pressure, the accused forcibly took one thousand rupees from Chandan Yadav's pocket.

Seeing the young man being held, people from the surrounding area started gathering. Coincidentally, the Ara Nagar Police Station's mobile patrol team arrived at the spot and inquired about the entire incident. Upon seeing the police, both the accused left Chandan Yadav and tried to flee, but the police team, showing promptness, chased and apprehended both of them. During police questioning, the arrested accused were identified as Abhishek Singh, son of Rajesh Singh, a resident of Badlapur Jaunpur village under Maharajganj police station in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, and Shah Nazar alias Sonu, son of the late Gaffar, a resident of Mawana village under Incholi police station in Meerut district. The investigation revealed that Abhishek Singh was posing as a police sub-inspector, while Shah Nazar alias Sonu was claiming to be his colleague, thus misleading people.

The city police station registered a First Information Report (FIR) against both accused under the relevant sections of the law based on the written complaint of the victim. After completing the necessary legal procedures, both were sent to judicial custody.

Following this incident, there is widespread concern and anger among the local residents regarding those who impersonate police officers to commit fraud. Meanwhile, the vigilance and swift action of the city police station are being appreciated in the area. The police have stated that strict action will continue against those who intimidate or defraud ordinary citizens by impersonating police officers.
