PATNA--------------------------In the month of Sawan, a large number of devotees visit Deoghar from different parts of the country. In Patna too, a group of pilgrims who were travelling from UP to Deoghar in a pickup van met with an accident.
A huge collision took place between a pickup van and a truck in the four-lane area of Mokama police station. A female kanwaria died on the spot when the pickup overturned. On the other hand, a male kanwaria died on the way to the hospital. More than 12 kanwaria were also injured in the accident. The police of Mokama police station admitted all the injured to the trauma centre.
According to the information, a pickup loaded with pilgrims was going from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh to Deoghar. But, this big accident took place on the way. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot in a hurry. All the kanwaria are residents of Tetarpur in Narhi police station area of Ballia district.
Here, the relatives of the injured said that there were 26 people in the pickup. Among them, Rekha Devi (45 years) and Harendra Rajbhar (60 years) died. Seeing the serious condition of seven people, they were given first aid and referred to Patna. However, the Hiva managed to escape.
